Assignment 6: Video Mixer
Technology opens up a whole new world of possibilities for art, especially in regards to interaction with the viewer and letting them make art of their own.
That is what this assignment aims to do. Ever wanted to become a director? Well, now you can! Welcome to the Director's SceneMaker 2021!
Using a collection of pre-existing YouTube videos and a handful of new videos that I made specifically for this project, I have created a YouTube Video Mixer. The mixer allows the viewer to start each video clip in any order they want and they will then play side-by-side. When played individually, each clip has a very solo purpose. One clip is of a relaxed setting in a corporate coffee shop, while another clip is of a small student jazz band. Combine the videos together and you get something completely new! Really, the sky is the limit.
The clips were strategically divided into two sections: Ambience and Sound Effects. The idea being that the ambience sets the background (or scene), while the sound effects create the action. What would a bunch of kittens on a beach sound like? Now you can find out.
Ultimately, every visitor that uses this art project will be able to create a scene unlike anyone else's. No two scenes will ever be the same, because YOU are in control. So go on, direct!
